D12 Dice

The d12 is a dodecahedron made up of 12 pentagonal faces, numbered 1 to 12. The numbers are arranged so that the largest number (12) is on the opposite side of the smallest number (1), the 2^nd largest number (11) is on the opposite side of the 2^nd smallest number (2), and so on. The sum of the opposite sides is always 13.

In Dungeons & Dragons the d12 die is most commonly used in combat scenarios when weapons and magical attacks are powerful enough to deal high amounts of damage, or when the ability calls for the use of such a die to determine an effect. The d12 is also the “hitpoint die” for the Barbarian class, which means that every time the Barbarian reaches another level, they get to roll a d12 and add the result to their total hitpoints.

d12 dice would also be a great tool for randomly determining anything that generally follows a 12-step pattern, such as time or months of the year.
