About this item
  • In order for dice to be as fair as possible, physical and numerical balancing are both important.
  • The sums of the faces meeting at each vertex are equal (or in this case, half are 52 and half 53, since the average is 52.5) while retaining the opposite-face numbering convention in which 1 is opposite 20, 2 opposite 19, etc.
  • Die measures 22mm face-to-face

Additional Information from the manufacturer on these Numerically-Balanced D20 Dice
Our numerically-balanced d20 is based on the icosahedron, one of the Platonic Solids. This polyhedron is widely used in sets of standard polyhedral dice. In contrast to other d20s, though, ours is magic numbered. This means the sums of the faces meeting at each vertex are equal (or in this case, half are 52 and half 53, since the average is 52.5) while retaining the opposite-face numbering convention in which 1 is opposite 20, 2 opposite 19, etc. Such a numbering is ideal from the standpoint of compensating for any physical imbalance or defects that could bias the roll of dice.

Die measures 22mm face-to-face, making it slightly larger and heavier than most d20s, which are typically 19-20 mm.

Note: all other polyhedral OptiDice besides these d20s from The Dice Lab have Physically-balanced numerals, meaning each numeral is made up of ten hexagons of the same size, including the decimal point for the 6 and 9. Due to the small size of numbers required for a d20, it isn't practical to use this design for these d20.

WARNING: CHOKING HAZARD - Small parts. Not for children under 3 years.
